Mom (half-listening): "Most pigs don't have rings in their noses."

Jaden: "I've seen pigs with rings in their noses, so they must be married. And cows too."

Mom: "Jaden, animals don't get married!"

Jaden: "Yes they do, like when Daisy grows up she will. And, like Lucy and Lacey, when they look into each others' eyes..."

Mom: "Lucy and Lacey are both girls."

Jaden: "Oh. Well, other animals get married and wear rings in their noses."

Ryder's Preschool Christmas Program. He took his performance very seriously, and tried his best to remember all the words and the hand motions!

A new addition to the Puckett family! The kids received their Christmas present from Mommy and Daddy on December 19 (first day of Christmas break). She is an 8-week-old silky terrier, and the boys named her Daisy. Jaden is in puppy heaven. He said, "This is the best Christmas I've ever had, and I probably will never have a Christmas better than this one."

Hooray! I am so excited to announce that we have a new camera! We have been researching and dreaming for months, so it was great fun to try it out yesterday. I am so pleased with the automatic results:) My children no longer have ashy gray faces!! (Now, I suppose I'll watch the instructional DVDs and read the manuals so I can actually figure out what I'm doing:)

The kids were almost as excited to pose as we were to take their photos. Hahaha! (Poor Karis wins the Best Trooper Award, as she managed to pull out some smiles even though she has a yucky cold!)

Desert Botanical Gardens

Ryder, Karis, and I spent a lovely day at the Botanical Gardens with our dear friends Sherry, Audrey, and Luke. It was one of our last special days before our friends moved to Georgia. The kids loved the Monarch butterfly exhibit. Karis was 'flapping her wings' like a butterfly.

(Thankfully, no butterflies were harmed in the taking of these photos!)

Jaden's 7th Birthday.

Jaden invited 21(!) of his closest friends over for an out of this world Star Wars birthday party. Jaden's motto has always been 'the more the merrier.' Judging by the noise level, I think everyone had a blast! (If you've never tried to orchestrate a game of Musical Chairs with over 20 kids, I don't recommend trying it! Ha!!)

Karis’ “Dora the Explorer” Birthday Party!

Everyone had a fabuloso time at Karis’ 2nd birthday party on Saturday! The festivities included: coloring Dora pictures, eating food prepared by Dora’s friends, a backpack and map adventure to find Dora and all her friends (to bring them to Karis’ special party:), fishing in the backyard, cake!, and fantastico presents!! Karis enjoyed every minute!

The big ADVENTURE! Swiper tried to swipe our friends, but we knew how to stop him!

Karis loved hearing everyone sing her favorite song!

She tried to eat only the frosting and the filling – yummy, but messy!

PRESENTS! D-D-D-D-Dora was everywhere, and Karis loved it! She also received some very girly things (tu-tu, bracelets, sunglasses, purses, ballet shoes, etc.) which she tried on immediately! She loves anything “shiny.” :)

Ryder tried to give himself as a present! hahaha

That is one BEAUTIFUL bike! And, that is exactly what you’re supposed to wear when you ride a bike. Cambrie wanted to take a spin on it, too!

Dear Karis Nicole, Two years ago today we all met you for the very first time! When you came into our world, you greeted us loudly and seemed to enjoy the excitement around you. Everyone loved you from the moment they laid eyes on you, especially brother Ryder. When he first saw you in your bassinet he said, “He’s cute!” (We had to explain to him that you were a girl:)

You are always on the search for adventure and fun. Anything your brothers can do will be fine for you as well. You drove their jeep when you were 16 months old, and you tried to rollerskate at 18 months. Even though you try to be rough and tough like the boys, you are definitely a GIRL! Make-up, jewelry, hats, and shoes are some of your favorite things. A few weeks ago, Mommy took you to the grocery store and as soon as we got out of the van you asked, “Where’s my purse?”

Miss Karis, you are such a little bundle of joy. Jaden loves being your big brother, helping take care of you, and showing you new things. Ryder loves watching Dora and Diego with you, playing games with you, and eating popsicles together. Mommy loves singing and dancing with you, fixing your hair, and having tea parties. Daddy loves your ‘welcome home kisses,’ tickle time, and having his “Booboo” help him get the mail. We can’t wait to get to enjoy all the days to come that you will fill with wonder, fun, and love.

Summer Vacation at Grandma & Grandpa Puckett’s House

Jaden and Ryder had a fun week at their grandparent’s house down in Tucson. Grandma and Grandpa Puckett kept them busy! The boys enjoyed the time with their grandparents. (Karis sure missed her brothers, though!) Their week began with a DBacks game vs. the Cubs in Phoenix.

Somewhat Quick Catch-up...

I know, I know, it's been over two months since my last post. But, we've been busy! So, here's what we've been up to...

Jaden finished 1st grade, and won the "Citizen of the Year" award for his class (among other special awards). We are extremely proud of our little citizen:) Here he is being awarded by his principal and Mrs. Wilson (whom his school is named after).

After Jaden was released from his last day of school, we headed out of town for a long weekend in Yuma and San Diego. We visited Legoland for the first time and had a blast.

We also had a great day attending the Spirit West Coast concert festival where Stellar Kart was playing.

We visited the Birch Aquarium in La Jolla, and ate at our favorite Italian food restaurant downtown.

We finally were able to check out the new park in Yuma. The kids had fun exploring, and the weather was perfect:)

JUNE 28, 2008

We took an action-packed day trip up to the Tonto Natural Bridge near Payson with some friends. The kids were great hikers!

FOURTH OF JULY 2008!

For the Fourth of July we headed up to Grandma & Papaw's house in Prescott. The boys all went miniature golfing; Karis loved her new red dress, Grandma's hydrangeas, and the cantaloupe; all the cousins adored watering the flowers; and we saw an amazing rainbow.

CAMPING -- JULY 2008

Boy, did we have a great camping weekend! The weather was perfect for spending all our time outside playing, fishing, hiking, and eating! Everyone wanted a turn holding baby Samuel (and Bradon?). John was the only one that had any luck catching fish:)

Ryder's 4th Birthday Party

A fun "Go Diego Go" party with pin the badge on Diego, fishing in the Amazon River for prizes, and Diego crafts. We all enjoyed celebrating Ryder's special day:)

Ryder wanted everyone to decorate their own cupcakes at his party. It seemed as though everyone had as much fun frosting and putting candy on their cupcakes as they did eating them!

Bradon tried to get Diego's Rescue Badge on his vest.

Ryder has been playing with his Diego playsets nearly every day since his party. He thanks everybody for the fun presents!

I will still be singing your song when you're 40, because you'll always be my baby boy:) I have enjoyed every day of these past four years getting to know every little thing about you. I will try to remember that you like your hair "brushed down," your socks rolled down, and your undies pushed down. You enjoy a good "squeezy" every once in a while. A perfect day for you involves riding bikes, jeeps, and/or buggies (or doing anything with your Daddy).

When anyone thinks your you, Ryder, your appetite definitely comes to mind. I am certain your favorite restaurant in the coming years will contain an 'all-you-can-eat' buffet! Your favorite thing for breakfast is bacon -- and lots of it. You've also been known to eat beans or chips for breakfast (anything unconventional). You like McDonalds cheeseburgers with pickles (and Jaden's pickles). Oh, I cannot forget strawberries. (Wonder who passed that craving down to you?) This past week you asked if I could go into that cold room at Costco and get some strawberries for you for your birthday:)

You can be our little quiet guy at times, but you are so affectionate. We love your hugs and kisses, and how you remember to give them to everyone you visit with.

It's fun to watch you and your "best brother" Jaden play and grow together. He's been looking out for you since the day you arrived. Even though he seems to get a big kick out of teasing, you are now big enough to hold your own! Jaden likes to take you to school to show to all his friends. He loves you lots:) As does your baby sister, Karis. She enjoys playing toys, coloring, and watching shows (especially 'My Friends, Tiger & Pooh') with you everyday. She yells for her "Yaya" when she's on the lookout for you.

Hello all!

We're glad to have you check out our new blog. I (Shannon) have enjoyed reading a friend's blog over the past year, and decided to begin one for our family. It seems to be a fun way to keep friends and family updated on "Puckett news." (And, I'm hoping it can take the place of some of my scrapbooking!)

So, to begin our web site of memories, we'll start with our day out in the desert this past Sunday...
